What it is

Tumble is a gravity platformer for the browser. Pachi, a sleepy sloth, does not jump: he flips. One tap inverts gravity and he falls toward the ceiling, where he walks as on the floor. He is only nimble upside down. An extra flip in mid-air brakes the flight, and it comes back when you touch a surface.

Traps line the way to the nest: spikes on the floor and ceiling, crystals that crack, pistons that puff steam before they come out and rails with Sparks. You stomp a Patroller by dropping on it from the opposite surface. The three golden leaves in each level ask for detours, the calming dew slows the world and the hammock keeps your place: if you fall, you respawn there, with no lives.

With a finger or the mouse

With a finger or the mouse: ◀ and ▶ on the left and the big button, Flip, on the right (in portrait, both at the bottom); slide from one to the other without lifting your finger. With the mouse, turn on “On-screen controls” in the pause menu.

With the keyboard

With the keyboard: left and right arrows or A and D to move; Space, up or down arrow, W, S, Z or K to flip. Escape or P pauses the game.

Levels and stars

There are three worlds of six levels (five regular ones and a guardian): Greenhouse, Crystals and Clockwork. Each level gives one to three stars: reaching the nest, collecting all three golden leaves and not respawning. Each guardian, like the Great Caterpillar, falls to three stomps and opens the nest. One star opens the next level. Your progress is saved on your device.

Difficulty

Each level you clear opens on Hard, with a clock, and then on Extreme, with a shorter clock and where one hit ends the attempt. Each difficulty keeps its own stars.
