What it is

Tiptoe is a rhythm puzzle for the browser. Crumb, a mouse, has to cross each room from the entrance to the exit door, dodging furniture and cats. Cats only see what moves: if Crumb is inside the view cone of an awake cat and moves, an alert builds up, and if it fills, Crumb is caught. If Crumb stays still inside the cone, it is safe.

Cats alternate between awake and asleep, and shortly before waking their cone shows as a dotted outline, as a warning. From the fourth room on there are lookout cats, which turn their cone each time they wake up. Every room has a time limit; if it runs out, the owner comes home and the run ends. Clearing a room earns points, more for every second left, and any cheese you pick up adds more. Each room is checked so there is always a way across.

With a finger or the mouse

With a finger or the mouse: hold down and Crumb moves toward the spot where your finger is. Let go and Crumb freezes. The first touch starts the run.

With the keyboard

With the keyboard: the arrow keys, or the W, A, S and D keys, move Crumb; let go and Crumb freezes. Escape or the P key pauses the game.

Daily challenge

Pick “Daily challenge” on the start screen or after a run. On that day everyone plays the same rooms, in the same order, and your best score for today is saved separately on your own device. Today’s challenge is the same for everyone on each difficulty, and each one keeps its own best score.

Difficulty

You can play Normal, Hard or Extreme. On the last two the rooms get harder faster: more cats sooner and less time to cross each one. Each keeps its own best score.
